When the skyline starts to consume the city sunset and the lighted buildings turn into stars, the underground world of Eastern Market’s art scene comes to life. Tomorrow, September 20th the hidden worlds of Eastern Market will open their doors to expose a hub of studios, hacker spaces, galleries, artists’ residencies, shops and letterpress studios.
The Detroit Design Festival presents Eastern Market After Dark which brings to life the creative movement that is consumed of and has inspired many Detroit artists. But even with a saturated hub of artistry many people are unaware of its existence. This event will present the chance for visitors to experience a side of the market that is usually not openly exposed.
The tour will wander through 10 difference places and spaces like The Detroit Mercantile Co, the Red Bull House of Art, Salt and Cedar, OmniCorp Detroit, 1480 Gallery and many more. Throughou the night the locations will be presenting opportunities for workshops, shopping and viewing.
The night starts at 7 pm and comes to a close at 11pm.
