Attention all coupon clippers and bargain hunters, a new discount site is set to launch today, but it has a community twist. In The Black sends daily deals to consumers through email, Facebook, Twitter and text, like Living Social, but this time the deals come from black-owned businesses and 10% of the profits go to the local Black Chamber of Commerce.
In the Black aims to “create a stronger black business culture that benefits both consumers and businesses across the country.” The new organization is partnering with the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce for the initial launch. Launching in Detroit gave In the Black the ability to partner with over 500 Michigan Black Businesses. The organization plans to expand to 7 more cities by the middle of 2013.
In the Black was started by Matthew Woodford, President and CEO of Victory Mobile LLC, and Marcus Burrell, Chief Operating Officer of Victory Mobile LLC and Owner of the Ultra 1 Consulting Group. “We saw a need in urban black communities across the U.S.” said Burrell. “There was a strong disconnect between resources being provided and actual business success, so we bridged the gap.”
In the Black isn’t just offering black businesses a great promotional tool, it’s actually helping the businesses grow. Since they’re partnered up with the Black Chamber of Commerce, the businesses that sign up with In The Black will receive all of the benefits and resources from the Black Chamber. Through this, they hope to help black businesses thrive.
The businesses will offer up to 90% off of products and services and so far the businesses include Detroit bakeries, salons, stores, restaurants and more. You can sign up to receive the daily deals at intheblack.org and join them in celebrating their launch today, October 1st, 2012 from 4pm to 7pm at the Detroit Seafood Market at 1435 Randolph Street.
